MVDA Trade Show and AGM

Saturday and Sunday (23rd - 24th September 2000) saw this years Motor Vehicle Dismantlers Association Trade Show, Annual General Meeting and Dinner-Dance, at the Moat House Hotel in Sheffield. CARE, at the invitation of the MVDA, attended the event and contributed a display stand outlining the issues surrounding the treatment of End of Life Vehicles. Two long-term CARE representatives (Robert Taylor and Charles Ambrose) were on hand, over the entire weekend, to answer questions, and there were many enquiries of genuine interest.

The overwhelming number of queries related to the role of the car manufacturers and the shredders in the ELV Directive, the economics of recycling non-metallic components, and the further uncertainty arising from the delay in the issue of the Governments consultation document on UK implementation of the Directive. Other exhibitors in the marquee included ELV depollution equipment supplier Rozone, University of Brighton and University of Hull, Universal Salvage, and a number of computer software and motor parts suppliers.

The event was well attended by CARE dismantlers including Charles Trent, Charlton Recycled Autoparts, Albert Looms, G.W. & G. Bridges, Simpson Bros., Mitchell Vehicle Dismantling, Willingham Car Spares, Automotive Recycling, D.J.Spall and Universal Salvage. The CARE representatives were made very welcome by all dismantlers, and the event was deemed a great success all round. Our thanks go to Paul Fox and John Hesketh at the MVDA.

The next major event at which CARE will be exhibiting (in association with ACORD) is the UK International Motor Show which takes place at the Birmingham National Exhibition Centre, from Tuesday 17th October to Sunday 29th October. The stand will highlight the issues surrounding abandoned vehicles and proper vehicle depollution. CARE representatives will be on hand through out the entire duration to answer questions and provide information.
